The role of the Supervisor is to provide leadership to employees.  Establish the 1 to 12 month vision to ensure that objectives are set that meet the goals of the NY Operations and Business Unit(s), to monitor the Key Performance Indicator trends, plan continuous improvements, and to oversee the implementation of corrective actions to ensure those objectives are met. To effectively coordinate and manage employees in the entire operation of the Paper Machines, Stock Prep and Resin areas, with primary emphasis on safety, quality of product and efficiency of the operation. Drive results and operational excellence through the H&V HVOS (Values and Operating Principles).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

•   Leadership for the safety, health and environmental performance of a shift or work unit.

•   Ensure shift employee compliance with H & V, OSHA, EPA, and all local regulatory requirements.

•   Demonstrate personal value for HSE, establish shift standards of excellence in safety performance for Standard Practices, Policies, Housekeeping, Order & Arrangement and Safe Work Flow Planning.

•  Develop Operator’s skills in using (A documentation Approach to Work) work practices, policies and procedures in the following areas:

  • SOP, JSA, HIRA, Safe Work Practices
  • Risk Assessment, FMEA, Process Hazards Recognition

• Plan and lead safety training, workshops and developmental sessions that improve Operator safety knowledge, safe work capability.

  • Leadership for the quality performance of the shift/work unit
  • Leadership for developing a quality of workmanship approach to the work of Operators / Technicians in the work unit.

• Ensures that product is produced only when all critical equipment is functioning to standard with material that meets specification, SOC and trained employees

• Adhere to all ISO requirements.

• Actively participates in new product trial planning and execution to ensure success.

• Establishes the quality initiatives required to ensure customer satisfaction and ensures consistency in manufacturing.

• Involves employees in RCFA and 8 D processes..

• Monitors shift employee trends to recognize training or development needs. Organizes training for employees.

• Effectively use data based decision making.

• Ensure data integrity in record keeping.

• Ensures that all members of the Production Team effectively utilize Data Analysis and Data Based Decision Making Skills.

• Leadership for monitoring Key people Performance Indicator & trends.

• Provides direct supervision/leadership to shift employees on all matters associated with the shift / work units performance.

• Leads cnuous improvement in Operator performance through development and training plans based on performance data.

• Maintains employee safety, training and development records.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 year degree preferred.
  •  Must have good problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all levels.

  • Establish and supervise production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules.
  • Review and provide quarterly updates of inventory levels of glass fiber at the fiber production facilities and central warehouses. Optimize inventory levels to balance risk and investment.
  • Perform financial forecasting in conjunction with the H&V Finance team to meet Annual Operating Plan requirements
